Limitations to care
In most instances, the advice given is effective. However, the success depends, in large part, on follow-through with the recommendations made in the plan.
Changes in feeding and infant behaviour may not be not be immediate and may take a few weeks to improve and for issues to resolve. However, not all issues can be resolved.
If Rebecca Scott-Pillai assesses a client’s concerns and thinks that it may not be possible to meet a client’s goals, she will be clear about what is achievable.
Rebecca Scott-Pillai agrees to provide:
- An initial consultation, taking into account maternal history, feeding history, feeding goals and current concerns about the baby.
- A verbal plan, which will be discussed and agreed with the client during the consultation.
- A written plan within 48 hours.
- Four weeks of ongoing support. This may consist of text/Whatsapp messages, emails and/or phone calls.
As an IBCLC, Rebecca Scott-Pillai must adhere to the Code of Professional Conduct for IBCLC’s which can be found here: Code-of-professional-conduct.doc (iblce.org)
