Antenatal Breastfeeding Consultations

Are you considering booking a consultation while still pregnant?

It can be a great way to prepare for a new baby coming. This may be because you:

  • Are pregnant with your first baby and want some personalised advice on getting breastfeeding established. Essentially, we’d do a one-to-one breastfeeding preparation workshop where you can ask any questions you have about breastfeeding.
  • Have an underlying medical condition or pregnancy complication that you want to discuss in the context of getting breastfeeding established. For example, you may have diabetes or high blood pressure, or know that your baby will be born early or by caesarean section. Perhaps you have been told that your baby may need additional support after birth, or will need to go to the Neonatal Unit. Having a breastfeeding plan can be very helpful in this situation.
  • Tried to breastfeed with a previous baby, but didn’t meet your breastfeeding goals. This time round you’d like a plan so that breastfeeding is successful.
  • You are tandem feeding and want to know how to manage breastfeeding a newborn while breastfeeding a toddler as well.
  • Feel like the NHS preparation didn’t cover your breastfeeding goals in detail. For example, you may want to exclusively pump and bottlefeed, or combi-feed, from birth.

The cost of an antenatal consultation is £65. This is a one hour consultation and you’ll get a written summary/plan following the consultation. You’ll also get access to a detailed, online breastfeeding masterclass (see the Ultimate Newborn Bundle, above). Should you require some face to face breastfeeding support after the baby is born, you’ll also get 20% of the price of any breastfeeding consultation you book.

You have two options for antenatal consultations:
